What are the Risks?All surgery inevitably carries some uncertainty and risk. Breast lift surgery is not a simple operation, but it's a safe procedure when performed by a qualified plastic surgeon. Nevertheless, as with any surgery, there is always a possibility of complications, including bleeding, infection, delayed wound healing or reaction to the anaesthesia. You can reduce your risks by closely following my advice both before and after surgery. The procedure does leave noticeable, permanent scars, although your bra or bathing suit will cover them. Infection, poor healing and wider scars are more common in smokers. This practice has a policy to not operate on smokers due to these increased, avoidable risks. The procedure can also leave you with slightly mismatched breasts or unevenly positioned nipples. Future breast-feeding may not be possible, since the surgery removes many of the milk glands leading to the nipples. |
