All surgery inevitably carries some uncertainty and risk.
Breast lift surgery is not a simple operation, but it’s a safe procedure when performed by a qualified plastic surgeon. This is a procedure which I REGULARLY perform and feel comfortable with. Nevertheless, as with any surgery, there is always a possibility of complications, including bleeding, infection, delayed wound healing or reaction to the anaesthesia. You can reduce your risks by closely following my advice both before and after surgery.
The procedure does leave noticeable, permanent scars, although your bra or bathing suit will cover them. Infection, poor healing and wider scars are more common in smokers. This practice has a policy to not operate on smokers due to these increased, avoidable risks. The procedure can also leave you with slightly mismatched breasts or unevenly positioned nipples. Future breast-feeding may be possible, but may be limited. Some patients may experience a temporary or very rarely permanent loss of feeling in their nipples or breasts. More rarely, the nipple and areola may lose their blood supply and the tissue will die. The nipple and areola can however be reconstructed, as we do in patients with breast cancer. However, in surgery with Miss Sacks, the nipple is ALWAYS attached to its supply network, which reduced the chances of the above complications.
